Then restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac and then restart normally. Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for CleanMyMac and follow to the letter. They make Mac OS slow, unstable, generate odd behavior (much like you are experiencing) and make Mac OS appear buggy. The only thing these apps do is have the opposite affect users want. Adding third party antivirus, cleaning, security and other types of maintenance apps to Mac OS adds no additional level of security. All you need to do with Mac OS to keep it secure and running well is to keep it up-to-date and do periodic (about 1x per week) restarts. Upon finding this out, I also noticed that the recent updates must have messed with my start-up settings, as my Spotify, Zoom, and another program were also set to run on start-up again, which I had previously turned off.Įverything seems to be back to normal with the exception of my activity monitor repeatedly crashing upon opening.The best antivirus, cleaning app, and overall maintenance app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself. I ended up noticing that when I installed them, they automatically were set to run on start-up, which I realized when just turning on my laptop dropped my battery by 17%. ![]() ![]() I then started having some issues with my Microsoft programs and had to reinstall them. (over 30,000 items!!!!) everything went back to almost normal. I don't know if it happened in an update - as I would have never done this with my settings - but I ended up finding that my browser was set to keep everything for a year! I posted a few weeks ago that I was also having this issue. ![]()
